Research:
My research activities are related to cold-adapted bacteria, in particular those isolated from Antarctica, their diversity, taxonomy and biotechnological potentialities they are offering. All my research activities are focused along three research lines, taxonomy of cold-adapted bacteria, especially within the phylum Bacteroidetes; genomics and bacterial cold-adaptation mechanisms; and finally, bioprospecting of Antarctic microbiota with producers of antimicrobials representing the centre of my attention.
